Can you help us?

In our Green Spaces

If you are a regular user of our green spaces and, like us, think that these are fabulous places you might be interested in helping to put a little bit back into these important community assets. We’re always interested to hear from individuals or groups who would like to spare a few hours and help us look after our green spaces. This could be either as a regular commitment or as a one-off.

There’s a variety of ways in which you could help. As much as we do our best, litter does seem to keep on appearing. Maybe you’ve a few spare moments to help keep your favourite space clean. If you’d like to work alongside our rangers helping to improve our country parks then we’ve opportunities here too.

Look after Wildlife

If your interests lie more towards wildlife perhaps you’d like to carry out some wildlife surveys or help us with the management of our wildlife areas. Have you seen one of our Most Wanted species or know of a rich wildflower meadow for the Local Seed Bank project? Let us know as your records can make a valuable contribution to our understanding of our local biodiversity.

The Caerphilly Biodiversity Partnership welcomes new members as individuals or as a representative from a group who are interested in wildlife and want to contribute through meetings, events and training courses.

With the Public Rights of Way

Our Public Rights of Way team also need help looking after the vast rights of way network across the county borough. Here you could help with the surveying of rights of way in a community area, waymarking paths or help to keep the network up to scratch maintaining stiles, gates and bridges.

Leading a Healthy Walk

Could you lead a short walk? Can you inspire others to adopt a healthier lifestyle? Our Healthy Walking groups need new walk leaders. We offer full training and regular support for anybody interested in taking up this rewarding role.

At the Local Access Forum

The Local Access Forum provides advice to Caerphilly County Borough Council, Natural Resources Wales and the Welsh Government about improving public access to the countryside for recreation and enjoyment in the Caerphilly county borough area. It represents the interests of people that use the countryside for work or recreation and appoints members to the Forum. You can also attend as a member of the public.

With Photos

And finally, we’re always looking for new and fresh images of our green spaces and its wildlife for the website and our publications. So, if you consider yourself handy with the camera we’d love to see your images.

What can you expect from us?

We see our volunteers and helpers as an integral and valuable part of the service. It's important that our relationship with you is mutually beneficial so we'll:

  • ensure the work is appropriate and right for you and your interests
  • provide any necessary training and instruction
  • provide any necessary protective equipment
  • support and offer regular feedback
