Although one of our smaller green spaces the Riverside Park is still a terrific place to visit and is well used by local residents. With all-weather levelled surfaced paths you can enjoy a walk along the river bank with summer swallows for company or savour the flower-rich meadows alive with insects. This oasis of small fields and hedges, the remnants of a former farming landscape, offers you peace and tranquillity away from the busy world nearby. The Riverside Park is located on both the Rhymney Riverside Walk and The Celtic Trail (Route 4) of the National Cycle Network so it's a great place to stop if you're undertaking these longer trails.

Picnic in the park

The Riverside Park is a fabulous place for a traditional style picnic whether you want to sit on the riverbank and watch the water flow past or sit amongst the meadows surrounded by the buzz of bees. Join us for our annual Picnic in the Park usually held in early September.

Walks and Trails

With approximately a mile of river frontage the Riverside Park is an important staging post on the 32 mile long Rhymney Riverside Walk as it follows the River Rhymney from its headwaters to its southern plains. The park is also ideally suited for exploration on the Celtic Trail (Route 4 of the National Cycle Network).
