CCBC would like to thank residents across the area for continuing to do their bit to help limit the spread of coronavirus.
We are getting a lot of queries about our country parks following the decision to close the facilities.
It is important to note that our country parks are closed to the public and the car parks and main entrances have been locked.
However, we also recognise that some of our larger parks have footpaths and cycleways crossing the sites which are used regularly. These can continue to be used in line with the Government’s current guidelines. (One form of exercise a day – for example, a run, walk or cycle – alone or with members of your immediate household.)
Caerphilly County Borough Council, along with many other councils across Wales, has taken the decision in accordance with section 9 of the PUBLIC HEALTH, WALES, The Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (Wales) Regulations 2020 to close all enclosed children’s play areas, MUGAs, skate parks, municipal and country parks which it is responsible for until further notice.
This tough decision will ensure social distancing, limit the spread of Coronavirus and protect our residents, especially those who are vulnerable.
Caerphilly County Borough Council's Public Rights of Way network remains open for the public to use. This will remain under review and may change if areas are identified where groups of people are congregating and actively ignoring measures set out by the Government.
We ask that all members of the public follow the requirements for social distancing and utilise their local routes rather then travel to the countryside unnecessarily. Many footpaths and bridleways cross private land, working farms and in some cases are close to private homes. Please keep to the paths, keep your distance from landowners and continue to follow the restrictions and measures which are in place to protect you and others.
We will be monitoring the situation, and if paths need to be closed, all path closure notices will be published online and notices posted on site under The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Closure of Leisure Businesses, Footpaths and Access Land) (Wales) Regulations 2020.
We are currently having problems with our host server which is affecting most of our Green Spaces Caerphilly website. We apologise for this and hope to have it back up and running as soon as possible. In the meantime the latest news as it affects the country and municipal parks and playgrounds can be found on the main Caerphilly CBC website here.
